Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, a non-profit corporation founded in 1964 and based at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in downtown Salt Lake City, seeks a reliable and experienced accountant. Candidate must be efficient in QuickBooks online have experience preparing reports for an annual external audit, preparation of budgets for grant proposals, other statistical reports as they relate to the Company finances, as well as experience in processing payroll. Ririe-Woodbury has a small staff and a large group of contractors. Candidate must possess strong communication skills, proven ability to produce accurate and highly detailed work, and the ability to meet deadlines.  Position reports directly to the Executive Director with oversight from the Board of Trustees. 

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining all Company financial records. This includes adherence to grants/contracts, state and federal financial regulations and reporting requirements, payroll, and development of budgets in coordination with the Executive Director and other departments as needed.

Accounting Department Responsibilities: 

  • Manage all general ledger and subsidiary journals, including cash and credit card receipts,         cash disbursements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue releases, payroll accounts, cash flow forecasting, grants administration and reporting
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process
  • Prepare, enter, and reconcile financial transactions
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, etc.
  • Prepare adjusting, reconciling and closing entries on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Coordinate and lead annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
  • Work with the external accountants to prepare the annual IRS form 990
  • Prepare quarterly and ad hoc reports for Executive Director and Board of Trustees and attend Board of Trustee meetings
  • Maintain proper contract management processes and protocols
  • Prepare and send accounts receivable invoices as needed
  • Prepare budgets for and report submission for grant applications and funding partners as required
  • Communicate and present critical financial matters to the Executive Director and Board of Trustees
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and IRS requirements 
  • Process 1099 forms and other relevant tax forms
  • Receive and verify vendor/contract and invoices and pay outstanding bills in a timely fashion
  • Maintain Company files such as insurance policies, HR and payroll records, Workers Compensation, Unemployment Compensation

Qualifications: 

  • BS, BA or AA in Accounting or Finance required
  • Minimum of three years accounting experience
  • Experience in QuickBooks online preferred 
  • Accounting in non-profit experience strongly preferred
  • Excel proficient

Applicants must have legal status to work in the United States and able to pass a background check. 

Hourly: 10-20 hours per week depending on need.  In-office and remote schedule negotiable based on Company needs. 

Compensation: $25.00-$30.00 per hour depending on experience
