Description
Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company is proud to present the Moving Parts Family and Sensory Friendly Performance. This interactive dance experience is a modified version of the evening performance, GROUNDWORKS, with accommodations for individuals with sensory sensitivities, a shortened show, and narration providing insights to the art of dance. These interactive dance experiences are wiggle-friendly and allow for audience movement and vocal reactions. It is well suited for families with young children, people with neurodivergence, as well as first time theatergoers. The staff and dancers are trained to accommodate audience requests and responses. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the dance performance in their own unique way, in a safe, non-judgmental environment. ASL interpretation will be provided.
GROUNDWORKS launches our 60th Anniversary performing season with a breathtaking retrospective concert. This special performance celebrates the Company’s co-founders, Shirley Ririe and Joan Woodbury in a stunning retrospective tribute and the legendary Alwin Nikolais whose groundbreaking choreography played a pivotal role in the formation of Ririe-Woodbury.
Guest dancers from BYU’s esteemed dance department will join the Company dancers for Nikolais’ “Liturgies” and “Tensile Involvement”. Additionally, Artistic Director Daniel Charon will restage his elegant, “On Being” (2021), which highlights the beauty of the stunning Company dancers. Bursting with dynamic visuals that explore multimedia dances created over many eras of dance making. GROUNDWORKS pays tribute to our rich history while looking toward a bright and adventurous future for the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company.
