Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company’s Meet the Choreographer Series offers a unique opportunity to engage in conversation about the dance making process.
Join us Thursday, January 12th, 2017 at 12:30pm for this incredibly unique Meet the Choreographer event and observe what it takes to re-stage a dance from the company's vast repertory. Join the company dancers, co-founder Joan Woodbury, artistic director Daniel Charon and other alumni guests, to see this process unfold! Discover how different methods are used to bring back the original choreography, view archival footage and documentation, and have the opportunity to inquire about the re-staging process.
The Company is currently re-staging Physalia (1977), an incredible work choreographed by Alison Chase and Moses Pendleton, co-founders of the internationally acclaimed Pilobolus Dance Theater. This piece was created exclusively for Ririe-Woodbury and was the first work to be choreographed for another company by Chase and Pendleton. Physalia will make it’s return to our stage as part of our Winter Season, February 3 & 4, 2017!
