Ririe-Woodbury, A Living Legacy

Ririe-Woodbury, A Living Legacy

As part of the celebration for Ririe-Woodbury’s 60th Anniversary (season 2023-24), and along with the many other exciting concerts and events, we created a film designed to be shown to secondary education students. "Ririe-Woodbury, A Living Legacy" was intended to help students better know who we are as a company and to learn more about the rich history of dance in Utah. Although it was originally created for educational purposes, anyone can watch it and enjoy learning more about Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company.

This film tells the story of the formation of this small, yet dynamic company from Utah. Under Joan and Shirley’s direction, Ririe-Woodbury evolved over the decades to become an integral part of the fabric of Utah’s dance culture, as well as a strong influence on the world of contemporary dance at large. It is an important history for all Utah dance students to know. The Company's motto,“Dance is for everybody,” naturally informs its commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access, a through line that can be seen in the Company’s commitment to promoting the art of dance at all levels.
