In 2003, the Nikolais/Louis Foundation for Dance partnered with Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company to present works by multimedia master Alwin Nikolais, whose influence extends to many renowned dance companies and choreographers worldwide. Under the guidance of Alberto del Saz, Artistic Director of the Nikolais/Louis Foundation, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company is dedicated to preserving Nikolais’ legacy while continuing to commission and produce innovative, moving, and compelling contemporary dance that challenges audience perceptions.
Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company has a long-standing commitment to community engagement through diverse programs tailored to various audiences. Our belief that "dance is for Everybody" is evident in our wide range of offerings, spanning from creative movement classes to technique and master classes. Our dancers are also trained educators and use current company repertoire to connect young audiences to dance in a meaningful way. We work with school classrooms, student dance groups, professional artists, and senior citizens. Our community engagement activities foster deep connections to dance, enhance audience experiences, and build awareness for performances.
