CHOREOGRAPHIC CANVAS

Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company is pleased to announce the inaugural CHOREOGRAPHIC CANVAS. This new annual series seeks to identify and select a choreographer to commission a new dance work. Choreographers are invited to submit an application for review and selection by a panel of esteemed dance professionals. This new work will be premiered as part of Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company’s regular performing season.

The Residency Includes:

  • A Commission Honorarium of $4,000
  • A production budget for costumes and lighting 
  • Dedicated rehearsal time with the company dancers (approximately 50 hours)
  • Travel to and from Salt Lake City
  • Company-Paid Accommodations

To apply for consideration, applicants must supply the following:

  • Online links to video(s) of recent choreography. 1 - 3 works, not to exceed 10 minutes total. Do not submit highly edited material like promotional reels. Please clearly indicate the time-stamps of what you would like viewed.
  • Current résumé and/or biography.
  • A headshot.
  • Brief artist statement (no longer than 250 words).
  • Brief proposal (no longer than 250 words) of choreographic intent, which may include style of dance, musical selection, scope, format, etc.
  • Contact information for two professional references including one performer that has worked with you in the past.

Please note: The 2 week creative residency will be held between February 17 and April 4th, 2025. Once the artist is selected, exact dates will be confirmed. The premiere performances for the new work will be April 17 - 19, 2025.

All applications must be submitted by the end of the day, July 1, 2024. A decision will be made by July 31, 2024.
