Residency Programs

Ririe-Woodbury offers several residencies for Utah public and charter schools, including Kids In Motion, touring, and high school choreography.

Kids In Motion Two-Week Residency Program

Kids In Motion residencies are conducted annually in six, select elementary schools where the Company offers an in-depth experience over the course of two weeks, including an interactive performance demonstration, creative movement classes and a peer-to-peer performance at the end of the residency. A Parent/Child Night and a Teacher Workshop are offered and scheduled at a time convenient for each school (optional). Participating schools are invited to attend the annual student matinees at various downtown theater venues.

This program is designed to assist classroom teachers in the implementation and fulfillment of the objectives of the Utah Dance Core Curriculum. Company dancers, who are highly trained dance educators, encourage students to experience, explore, create, perform, observe, critique, and gain aesthetic literacy. Through the engagement of mind/body/spirit, this residency program celebrates individual differences and expressions as well as the importance of the learning community.

* Kids In Motion Residency is geographically limited to the Wasatch Front and requires an application process.

High School Choreography Residency

Ririe-Woodbury's High School Choreography Residency takes the Company dancers into six select high schools to choreograph an original work with the high school dance company. A $400 choreographic fee is required of the school.
To apply, contact education@ririewoodbury.com.

Community Residencies

To further the extensive work Ririe-Woodbury does in the schools, they are committed to building communities through dance. Collaborating and coordinating with educators, community leaders, parents, and interested individuals, the Company can offer lecture demonstrations, performances, movement classes, teachers workshops, parent/child evenings, and other events for the community at large. Schedules are determined by the needs of the community. Three, Four, or Five day long community residencies are available.
