Meet the Choreographer Series

Join us on January 14, 2025 for our Meet the Choreographer Event which will feature guest choreographer Kellie St. Pierre. She is currently staging her captivating work, The Rate We Change  on the company which will premier as part of our winter production of RE-MIX . Open rehearsal will be from 11am - 12pm followed by a Q and A with Kellie and the Company Dancers from 12 - 12:30. This event will be open house style, please stop by whenever is convenient to you!

Our Meet the Choreographer Series is a unique opportunity to engage in conversation about the dance making process. Go behind the scenes with the internationally-renowned commissioned artists that are brought here to Salt Lake City to create brand new work for the company. This is a special chance to converse with these artists and the Ririe-Woodbury Company Dancers on their process and experiences. These open rehearsals, showings and moderated discussions endeavor to empower and educate by shedding light on what goes on in an artist’s mind during a creative period.

The Rate We Change is an innovative, collaborative performance featuring six skilled dancers, a human-powered spinning platform, and composer Daniel Clifton. This work is an exploration of the ever-present effect of ongoing change within our dynamic world. Delving into the concept of our perpetual adaptation to our environment, the work sheds light on the essential nature of embracing instability to find true stability, summoning courage to cultivate patience, and exerting effort to attain a sense of ease. Through the intricate weaving of roles and the nurturing of collective care, the performance showcases the potential for adaptation through interconnectedness.
